If I were to summarize Morgon Housel’s latest book “Same as Ever”, I would do that with the following question;

“What is not going to change?”

We all are often obsessed with what is going to change. Change comes with its own set of discomfort. Then we get anxious about adapting to it. However, we rarely obsess about the stuff that is not going to change.

12 years back at an AWS conference, Jeff Bezos put it beautifully.

“I very frequently get the question: ‘What’s going to change in the next 10 years?’ And that is a very interesting question; it’s a very common one. I rarely get the question: ‘What’s not going to change in the next 10 years?’

We know that customers want low prices, and I know that’s going to be true 10 years from now. They want fast delivery; they want a vast selection.

It’s impossible to imagine a future 10 years from now when a customer comes up and says I love Amazon; I just wish the prices were a little higher or “I love Amazon; I just wish you’d deliver a little more slowly. Impossible!

Morgon Housel’s new book focuses on basic human behaviors like greed and fear that have repeatable patterns. Go read it!!
