A thief may sometimes take a holiday, but a watchdog never.
-Japanese Epigram
I tried searching for interpretations but couldn’t find any.
Here is my attempt to interpret it.
One may take a day off from making mistakes, taking risks, and failing. But people who might closely observe you, the critics, the ones who anticipate you to fail and falter have no relief. They can’t take a day off from the self-assigned duty of watchdog they diligently fulfill.
What would be your interpretation?
